7 Happy Things #5

Looking back over all my "7 Happy Things" posts, I realised that they sort of fall in a monthly pattern. Roughly every four weeks I sit down and write out all the things that have made me happy that month. It is sort of like a way of reflecting back over the month and seeing what stands out as the simple happy memories. However it does mean that quite a lot of nice exciting things get forgotten about, so I am going to try (emphasis on the word try...) to make it a fortnightly post on my blog. This could be disastrous, but hopefully it will work and people will enjoy reading it! Without any more rambling let's get in to it.

1. Beauty and the Beast: I went to see beauty and the beast last weekend and oh my god if you haven't seen it yet then get yourself to a cinema pronto! It stayed incredibly true to the animation with some needed subtle modernisation. The costumes were beautiful, in fact the whole production of the movie was just beautiful. I cried, a lot, both at how sad it was and how beautiful it was. Can I say beautiful one more time? Beautiful.

2. Spicy Hummus: Random but definitely a firm favourite recently. Not sure if they sell this specific one in the UK but Aldi do an excellent Pikant hummus over here and with crusty bread it is the snack/lunch/breakfast of dreams.

3. Being outside: So many of my weekends here are crammed full with travelling, or meeting friends, or a cheeky night out, that it has been so nice over the past few weekends to just relax. From my Sunday cycle to the nearby city of F├╝rth to my ever so slightly disastrous (because we tried to follow a cycle path that was 26 km instead of a walking path) walk last weekend, it has been great to spend some time in the fresh air and get some exercise at the same time.

4. Cosy Nights In: As part of my attempt to slow down and chill, as well as being outside I have been trying to enjoy my time inside. I have had a lot of bubble baths and have spent many a cosy evening with my lit candles snuggled in my room just relaxing. Makes a nice change!

5. ZARA's Spring Collection: I don't normally talk about fashion on my blog here as there are about a zillion bloggers who can do it better than me, but I am seriously loving Zara's Spring collection at the moment. Initially totally put off by the abundance of embroidery and puffy frilly sleeves I set aside an hour last week to go into the store here in Nuremberg and go through all the pieces and try out all the trends. With so many bright colours, like yellow and pink, being strong favourites in the Spring collections everywhere at the moment I think it is just such an exciting time to try and inject some colour into your wardrobe. If I think I am not going to suit something I don't normally even try it on (kind of obvious I guess ha) but this time I was determined to be open minded. I ended up coming away seriously loving about three wardrobes full of clothes. Being me, I couldn't walk away totally empty handed and bought a beautiful pale blue with white thick lace detailing top, with almost bell sleeves. I had visions of it being the perfect Spring brunch top - does anyone else see an item of clothing and think that would be the most perfect piece to wear for a specific occasion? I got that feeling with this top about going for brunch, and am going to try so hard to save it for when I am in London and go out for brunch. Soz for the ramble but if you are looking to add some colour or new pieces into your wardrobe definitely check out Zara!

6. Waking up to Sunshine: Isn't it just so much easier to get out of bed when the sun is shining? I am loving waking up to the sun on my face (I don't really have curtains but have huge windows) and it definitely helps me start my day with a spring in my step.

7. My Hammock: There is a hammock on my balcony and almost every day this week after school (well, teaching at school not going to school) I have come home and chilled on the balcony in the sunshine. Bliss.
