7 Happy Things #9

Things have been a little quiet over here on the blog the past week and if I am being honest I don't know whether this week is going to be any better. It has been an absolute whirlwind of form filling, goodbyes and trying to make the most of my last week in Germany and squeeze in as many new memories as possible. I thought this weeks happy things post would be a good way to check in with you all, let you know what I have been up to and also let you know of what I have got coming up.

1. My Kids: I mean, they aren't actually my kids, but saying goodbye to the classes of children I have worked with since September has actually been a bit tougher than I thought. I would definitely say I have developed a bond with some of my classes and I genuinely will miss them. I won't talk about this in too much detail because I am hoping to get a Part 3 up to my "Life as an English Language Assistant" soon. Check out Part 1 and Part 2 if you want to know a bit more about the programme, both really old posts but will help fill you in on what I have actually been doing in Germany this whole time!

2. BBQ: My language assistant friends and I decided to have a little BBQ in my garden this weekend and it was surprisingly successful! We had pork and vegetable skewers and of course, since we are in Nuremberg, little Nuremberger sausages! It was a really cute way to spend some time together in the last few days and thankfully the weather stayed dry (for the most part!).

3. Birthdays: It was one of my flatmates 50th birthday's last weekend and we had such a lovely day celebrating it! I love it when other people have a birthday and it's an excuse to all get together and do something nice. We actually got to ride a tram from the 20's and had a private little tour of the city! We even got to ride on lines that were no longer in operation so it was quite a cool and unique way to see the city!

4.Swimming: This is quite random, but since the weather has been so beautiful and warm (I'm talking 26 degrees kind of warm), Danielle and I decided to go to the outdoor swimming pool Westbad in Nuremberg. I haven't actually been swimming for a few years and I forgot how much I loved the feeling of being in the water. Definitely a lot more tiring than I remembered but they had a great water slide too which wasn't too strenuous ;)

5. Polaroids: On Wednesday I decided to take my polaroid camera and a few remaining rolls of film out on a walk through Nuremberg to take some polaroids of my favourite parts of the city. Despite having the camera here since September I have never actually taken any photos of Nuremberg itself, only when travelling. I think I am going to do a post with all the polaroids in it so I haven't included any here, but it was so lovely just walking around in the sunshine and visiting all my favourite spots! I have a whole post about my polaroid camera here, it's the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 if you are interested!

6. Dungarees: I bought myself a pair of dungarees a few weeks ago and have absolutely been loving wearing them in this nice weather! My favourite way to wear them is with a stripey top, although I do feel like a bit of a child in them!

7. Friends and Family:Despite the overwhelming feeling of sadness when I think about going home on Wednesday, the only thing that is really stopping me from wanting to cancel my flights and stay here forever is that I know I'll see my friends and family soon.
