My Summer Bucket List

If there's one season that inspires me to get out and do things it's Summer. The weather is generally better, unless you live in Scotland, and you have so much more free time. Last Summer was great, I had many adventures to castles with W, I took time to explore more of the area where I live and I worked another season at my Summer job which I love. However this Summer is very different for me as I am in St. Andrews all Summer. I transferred offices for work so although it is more or less the same job it's in a different location with a whole new set of information to absorb. But I love a challenge and I am really enjoying getting stuck in and learning so many new things.

However since I will be alone it means lot's more solo adventures and exploring so I thought I would write a little bit of a Summer bucket list of things I want to do over the Summer, either myself or I'll rope some of my friends into coming with me.

Explore St. Andrews: Whilst I have been away, so many new shops and restaurants have opened up and the town is certainly a different place without all the students. I really want to use my time this Summer to fall back in love with this beautiful little town and explore some of the new places and revisit some of my old favourites.

Historic Scotland: For my birthday, W got me a year long Historic Scotland membership which entitles you to free entry to all the historic Scotland properties which is just so exciting. I love history and exploring and I cannot wait to use my pass and visit some new castles and places!!! Top of my list are Edinburgh and Stirling castle, pretty unbelievable that I haven't been already, but also Linlithgow palace as I am still really into Mary Queen of Scots and the Jacobites at the moment. The National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh also has a new Jacobite exhibition opening and there is an opening night with talks from various historical buffs so W and I really want to get tickets.

Reading: I am determined this Summer to make a head start on my semester one reading. I am really excited about the subjects I am doing next year so hopefully I'll be motivated to get ahead and then fingers crossed it won't be quite such a shock to the system when the crazy honours workload hits in September.

Beach Picnics: I love going to the beach and in St Andrews we are lucky enough to have two beautiful sandy beaches so on sunny days I definitely want to spend more time down there and hopefully have a couple of picnics!

Stay Healthy: Since being back in the UK I haven't been to the gym or really kept up any kind of fitness routine. I really want to work on my fitness over Summer and get back into that routine.

Blogging: Obviously I love blogging however I am definitely finding it harder now I am not in Germany so I want to develop my blog over Summer and work out exactly what I want to be talking about now I am back in the UK.

Scrapbooking: I cannot wait to start my year abroad scrapbook and hopefully rainy Summer evenings will give me the perfect opportunity to do it!

My New Flat: I cannot wait to buy some more bits and bobs to make my flat more homey, currently on the lookout for a cute desk lamp and some drawers. I still haven't finished unpacking but I am getting there.

Travel: I am determined to travel at some point in the Summer. W wants to go on holiday to Vienna and I really want to make it across to Ireland. My work schedule isn't very forgiving so we will have to see.

Cooking: This Summer is definitely the other for me to try out all the new recipes and ingredient combinations I have been thinking of. I have always loved cooking but recently I have been so much more adventurous and so far we haven't had any disasters! I am also tempted to maybe include a few of my favourite recipes on my blog soon but we will see.

So there we go! What sort of things are on your Summer bucket list? Let me know in the comments! Hope you are all having a great Summer so far!! Please also let me know if there are any posts you would like to see on here!
XOXO

  1. It sounds like you've got a really fun Summer planned! Where I am, the weather isn't too great so I'll probably be indoors most of the time. Hopefully the sun does come out at least once because I really liked the sound of a beach picnic! AnnieChanie
