Planning The Perfect Movie Night | Ad

Cosy Netflix Movie Night

With the freezing cold and long dark nights, the thought of going outside anytime after 5pm into the cold is quite honestly as unappealing as my reading list for next semester. The perfect alternative however is a cosy movie night in.  Whether you are catching up with friends, on a cheeky date or having a party for one, watching on a big screen such as the Panasonic Oled Television with its sleek design and high definition screen (the dream), or simply snuggled in bed with your laptop, this guide will help you plan the perfect movie night whatever the occasion!

Movie Night With Friends

The Christmas Holidays are over and a movie night is the perfect opportunity to catch up on all the goss with your friends and swap stories of what you got up to over the festive period/how you are so glad to be back at uni because living at home over the holidays was a little too much.

You're gonna need food and lots of it, so a pot luck type dinner would be perfect. Every friend brings a different dish (or snack, pot luck snacks would work too) so you end up with a spread of different things to nibble on thought the night! To be honest, the movie choice here is less important because you're going to be chatting anyway, so something fun that you've seen before would be perfect. Classic chick flicks are always a winner, especially if it means you can reminisce about when you all first watched it together as teenagers all those many moons ago.

Top Movie Picks: Wild Child, Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging, Clueless, Mean Girls, Trainwreck, Legally Blonde (bend and snap re-enactments compulsory)

A Date Movie Night

With Valentines Day only a few weeks away, (an entirely different matter which I won't get myself into..) I thought I would include a date night section in this guide. I can't exactly call these 'top tips' but humour me.

I'd say this is the situation when the ambience is the most important. Go all out, get out your candles and your leftover Christmas chocolates and your cosiest blanket (not a slanket though, have you ever tried sharing a slanket with someone?!! Not to be advised.) The tough part here is finding a movie that you both agree on. I'd always say go for something romantic, just not quite as intense as the notebook because do you really want to turn the light on and have cried all your makeup down your face? Probably not.

If it ends up really not being a mood for a romantic movie then a classic is the way forward. All three Back to the Future films are currently on Netflix and you can't really go wrong with that!

Top Movie Picks: Notting Hill, Pretty Woman (personal fav), Dirty Dancing, Pitch Perfect (for the laughs)

A Solo Movie Night

The easiest of the three to organise and execute and the perfect activity for when you're home alone and looking for something to do. To have the ultimate movie night, your cosiest pyjamas and fluffy socks are essential as well as your favourite snack. I am currently working my way through a double box of my all time favourite Guylian seashell chocolates and it's been great tbh.

The best solo movie night starts with a bit of a pamper, a nice long bubble bath and maybe even a face mask if you're going all out. A hot water bottle will make it extra cosy and a big mug of your favourite hot drink is also an essential. Plenty of blankets, pillows and fairy lights to create the perfect little den and you are set for a night of movie bliss.

As it's just you that's watching, you don't have to think about anyone else when making the all important movie selection and even better is that if you start one and aren't feeling it you can just press stop and start another! Take the opportunity to indulge in your movie guilty pleasures, and by this is I mean the ones that you can sing along to without fear of anyone hearing you. Musicals and chick flicks and basically anything that has Zac Efron in it.

Top Movie Picks The Greatest Showman (I know it's not out yet and still in the cinemas but it's too good not to include!), Beauty and the Beast, Moulin Rouge, Mamma Mia, Les Miserables (if you want a cry), Hairspray, *insert fav movie here*

I hope this post has given you a little inspiration for planning your next movie night, no matter what the situation! Let me know your top movie picks in the comments!

*This post has been sponsored by Panasonic to celebrate their next generation OLED televisions being pretty damn snazzy. All thoughts and foolproof top tips are of course my own.*

  1. I love action movies so I tend to always go back to Hunger Games. If I want a feel good romantic movie, I watch my all-time fave Leap Year.

    1. I have still only seen the first hunger games but I loved the books! I've never seen Leap Year either I'll definitely need to add it to my watch list! xx

  2. That's cool. I like your blog. Go to my blog

  3. I have to admit to loving solo movie nights, because you can pause and rewind (or change film, like you've said) whenever you feel like it haha! Ahh, nothing better than a cosy night in watching films (with plenty of snacks!!) :)

    1. Definitely! Thanks for reading Gabrielle xx

  4. In the last part, a couple of youthful supporters Sylvia Weis and Will Salas, team up and operate as partners to seek options to support the living circumstances of the persons and to fix the systems, similar to what Robin Hood does (only no arrows now, only guns). movie box download
